Ciel Interior Design is a small design practice based in Kent, UK. We invited Claire Langham to tell us more about the creative nature of the firm’s designs, and what attributes the company possesses which have seen it achieve unlimited success.

Established in 2013, Ciel has been working with a range of clients, both UK and overseas, on a wide variety of projects for around five years. The company prides itself on producing work for clients which encapsulate timeless elegance and effortless style.

Claire starts the discussion off by telling us about the varied and unique designs that the company is able to produce, as well as what aspects of the firm contribute to its ability to deliver wonderful projects, which are unrivalled throughout the design industry.

“Although we tend to gravitate towards a look that could be described as subtle opulence, I would say that Ciel does not have a specific ‘shop style’ as such. We love anything Art Deco, and this will often influence our design decisions due to the fact that this period, for us, stands for clean lines counterbalanced with sophisticated, decadent, details and finishes, which is what we at Ciel are all about.

“However - and it is a big, however - we also relish the challenge of being asked by a client to produce a scheme that is a million miles from this look. We have been lucky enough to work with clients on projects ranging from a contemporary villa in Portugal, through to a country farmhouse in the depths of the Sussex countryside, as well as an industrial style gym space!”

Alongside delivering exhilarating designs, the team at Ciel all work together to reach the firm’s goals. Claire outlined the company’s overall aims to us, before describing what methods and strategies the team adopts so that it can reach its targets.

“When embarking on every single project we undertake, the team’s aim is, first and foremost, to design a space in collaboration with the client that is above and beyond their expectations. We always work to reassure the client that the design process is not about imposing a certain style or look (unless that’s the brief!), but is more about guiding and developing the client’s ideas with the end goal being spaces that are a true reflection of themselves. At the end of the day, there is nothing more satisfying than seeing the client using and enjoying a space that we have created together.”...
